NEW DELHI: With tensions easing along India’s western borders following a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, national exam bodies have swiftly resumed operations to conduct major entrance tests in May. The National Testing Agency (NTA), on Saturday night, released admit cards for students in 15 border districts across Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) starting May 13.
The CUET-UG, scheduled to run until June 3, will be conducted in three sessions daily. This year, over 13.5 lakh students have registered, each allowed to appear for up to five subjects. NTA has already issued admit cards for around six lakh candidates set to take exams between May 13 and 16. According to officials, students may take up to four papers a day across two shifts (9 AM–12 PM and 3 PM–6 PM), with each paper lasting one hour. Over 3.5 lakh students have downloaded their admit cards so far.
Meanwhile, the schedule for JEE (Advanced), the entrance test for admission to IITs, was also reviewed in light of recent developments. The exam, which had faced uncertainty due to security concerns, will now proceed as planned on May 18. Admit cards will be available for download starting Monday, May 12, at 10 AM. IIT Kanpur, the organising institute, stated that cutoffs remain largely unchanged from 2024, with only a marginal dip in the general category threshold.
In a related update, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has released a revised schedule for its exams, which were earlier postponed due to the security situation. The CA Final, Intermediate, and INTT-AT (PQC) exams will now be held from May 16 to 24, while the CA Foundation May 2025 exams will take place as originally planned on May 15, 17, 19, and 21. ICAI has confirmed that previously issued admit cards remain valid.
