Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker has been under discussion regarding his future for quite some time. That discussion began while the team suffered last summer. However, the debate reached its peak again lately when Bleacher Report's Zachary D. Rymer contributed to it by naming Brian Snitker among six MLB managers in the hot seat. Rymer indicated, "The Braves are not where they want to be right now," and intimated that the team may look elsewhere after this season.
Brian Snitker’s job with Braves in question after tough season start
One of Snitker's largest problems was the way he addressed controversy between players Jarred Kelenic and Ronald Acuña Jr. The majority of people felt the controversy could have been addressed in a better manner.
It also left many questioning the way Brian Snitker is leading the team's top performers such as Austin Riley , Matt Olson , Ozzie Albies, and Michael Harris II, particularly as their performance has faltered.
But everything cannot be blamed on Brian Snitker. The team has been plagued by injuries, and other issues, such as Jurickson Profar's suspension, are beyond his control. Rymer concedes those facts but continues to say the Braves ought to consider moving on when Brian Snitker’s contract expires.
Even with this, the majority of Braves fans feel that the team won't let him go. Brian Snitker has been with the Braves for almost 50 years, and many feel he'll get to decide if he wants to retire or take another position after this season.
Austin Riley and Matt Olson helping Braves stay in playoff hunt
The Braves' early-year record had looked dismal after beginning 0-7. However, they've since gone 18-12 and are now just four games out of a playoff position. That 18-12 mark has benefited Brian Snitker’s cause.
Some of the struggling players earlier are now improving. Olson has been good in his last 21 games. Austin Riley has also resembled the old Riley, with good numbers in the last month. There's no definitive evidence that Brian Snitker could not get them motivated.
Albies and Harris have played subpar seasons, but it's too easy to state that cutting Brian Snitker loose would solve all the problems.
