This includes its stateside version, , in which Simon sits on the judging panel alongside comedian Howie Mandel, actress Sophie Vergara and Spice Girl Mel B. Despite celebrating the show's milestone 20th season this year, the TV executive admitted he doubted if the competition series would ever take off. Simon confessed: "It was a difficult show to sell, actually, to be honest with you. Because we made a pilot, and the pilot was dreadful.

"I mean, really, really bad. So, it was dead," he told before sharing that he continued to pitch the pilot network even though he was a fan of it.
Reflecting on the seven-minute pilot, Simon said it was "just about watchable," yet signed the show despite this.
Simon said: "They came over and I just showed two minutes or three minutes of this show. And they loved it. They bought it and that was it."
Fans can look forward to the TV star returning to screens for Britain's Got Talent's upcoming final, which will see one act win a cash prize of £250,000 and a chance to perform at the Royal Variety Performance.
Saturday's (May 31) grand final will feature semi-final golden buzzer winner, The Blackouts, Olly Pearson, Jasmine Rice, Joseph Charm and the most recent Harry Moulding, who received a golden buzzer from guest judge KSI.
The semi-final public vote winners who will compete in this weekend's final will also include Vinnie McKee, Stacey Leadbeatter, Ping Pong Pang, Hear Our Voice, and nine-year-old dancer Binita.
Last week's semi-final saw returning guest judge after awarding Harry Moulding the Golden Buzzer after his act ended with an unexpected proposal.
Many viewers took to social media to claim the buzzer should've gone to nine-year-old dancer Binita Chetry, who performed next and wowed with her jaw-dropping dance routine.
