In its recent FY2026 second-quarter results, Mahindra announced sales exceeding 30,000 units of the BE 6 and XEV 9e electric SUVs within eight months since sales commenced in March 2025. This strong performance is notable given the high prices of these vehicles. Both models are the first fully designed and engineered electric vehicles by Mahindra.
While the BE 6, priced lower, was expected to outsell the XEV 9e, initial sales showed the opposite. The BE 6 attracted customers with its compact size and luxury interiors. Meanwhile, the XEV 9e appealed through its authentic SUV-coupe styling, spacious interiors, and a competitive price.
The BE 6 offers variants with 59 kWh and 79 kWh LFP battery packs delivering power outputs of 228 hp and 282 hp respectively, with ranges up to 683 km and acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds for the long-range variant.
Similarly, XEV 9e’s variants match battery and motor specifications, with ranges between 542 km to 656 km, and acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 6.8 seconds in the top variant.
Looking ahead, Mahindra plans to expand its electric lineup with the XEV 9S, a seven-seat SUV similar in design to the XUV 700, launching on November 27, a year after the BE 6 and XEV 9e debut.
