India did not shake hands with any Pakistani
On September 14, after the group-stage match between India and Pakistan in Dubai, a controversy erupted over not shaking hands, leading the PCB chief to attack Suryakumar Yadav's team and demand ICC intervention. A PTI report revealed that the defending champions had decided not to share the presentation stage with Naqvi if they won the Asia Cup final on September 28. Team India followed suit. Meanwhile, after losing to India, the Pakistani team locked themselves in the dressing room to avoid booing, delaying the presentation ceremony by nearly an hour.

On Sunday, India defeated Pakistan by five wickets, chasing 146 in the final over at a packed Dubai stadium. Now that Team India was ready to lift the trophy, the Pakistani team kept Mohsin Naqvi and the Indian players waiting, refusing to leave their dressing room amid intense booing outside. PCB chief Naqvi appeared displeased by the delay and was seen standing near the stage, talking to someone on his mobile phone.
Mohsin Naqvi was insulted on stage
According to a Cricbuzz report, Pakistani captain Salman Agha, head coach Mike Hesson, and the team manager finally emerged amid loud booing from the Indian crowd. The remaining players followed later, some still wearing slippers. Naqvi was no exception. As soon as he appeared on stage, Indian fans began chanting "Bharat Mata ki Jai" and jeering him. After waiting for over an hour, Dooley began the ceremony, presenting Tilak Verma with the Player of the Match award for his unbeaten 69 off 53 balls. Kuldeep Yadav and Shivam Dubey were also called to receive their awards for their valuable contributions to the victory.

Dooley then invited the entire Pakistani team to receive their runners-up medals and then had a brief conversation with Salman. India opener Abhishek Sharma received the Player of the Tournament award for his stellar performance in the Asia Cup 2025, but as fans and spectators waited for the Indian team to be called to receive the trophy, Dooley abruptly ended the ceremony. He announced, "Ladies and gentlemen, I have been informed by the Asian Cricket Council that the Indian cricket team will not be able to receive their awards tonight. So this concludes the post-match presentation."
Team India did a photoshoot without the trophy
According to a PTI report, the Indian team management initially asked who would present the trophy to the winning team, which caused a stir within the ACC as they realized that ACC chief Naqvi was not liked by the champion team. When Naqvi finally came on stage, he was told that if he tried to present the trophy, the Indian players would not accept it and an official protest would follow. Naqvi waited despite this. The chaos only increased, until an organizer quietly picked up the trophy and brought it to the Indian dressing room. However, Team India players did a photoshoot without the trophy.
