The ED is investigating this matter under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Currently Uthappa is a part of the commentary team of Asia Cup 2025 and now after receiving this notice from ED, his troubles have increased.

This whole matter is allegedly related to illegal betting apps. It is alleged that these apps defrauded people and investors of crores of rupees and also committed tax evasion on a large scale.
