A treasure trove of Marvel comics - hidden away in an attic for more than 50 years after being snapped up by an eager young fan - could fetch thousands when it goes under the hammer. The remarkable haul features issues of the Fantastic Four, which provided the basis for the upcoming First Steps movie.
Other legendary superheroes represented include Spider-Man, The Silver Surfer, X-Men, The Avengers, The Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Sub-Mariner, Doctor Strange, Daredevil and Thor. They are all from rare 1960s editions.
The treasured comics were originally purchased by a youngster from Tamworth, Staffordshire, who devoured them during his youth before meticulously preserving them in his loft.

According to What's The Jam, the collection could potentially command more than £7,000. "From the moment our specialist saw the list of titles, we knew this collection was going to be remarkable," a spokesperson for Richard Winterton Auctioneers said.
"When the comics were consigned we could see it was an outstanding archive which will doubtless be of great interest to collectors. It's especially interesting to see The Fantastic Four issues #48, #49 and #50 featuring the first appearances of the Silver Surfer and Galactus and the original story on which the new movie The Fantastic Four: First Steps is based.
"A truly fantastic element of a fantastic collection."
The collection is scheduled to be auctioned by Richard Winterton Auctioneers on Monday, (29 Sep) in Lichfield, Staffordshire. The Fantastic Four #48, #49 and #50, marking the debut of the Silver Surfer and Galactus, are expected to rake in between £400 and £600.
