How to make banana peel fertiliserGail's method is straightforward: simply pop a banana peel into a glass jar, fill it with water, and secure the lid. Let the banana peel steep for a few days, then use this concoction to feed your peace lily weekly, reports .
Gail elaborated: "You put the banana peel in a jar of water with a lid and leave it in the water overnight or a couple of days. I also save the water in a jug. We both eat a banana a day so I have a lot of water to save. I water once a week or more often if needed."
Banana peels are rich in potassium, a nutrient essential for flower production and root development. Feeding them to your peace lily can help it become stronger, healthier, and produce larger blooms.
It's also important to provide peace lilies with a balanced fertiliser to ensure they receive all the nutrients they need to flourish. However, this banana peel trick is a simple and cost-effective way to give the plant a boost before its flowering season.
Gail shared a photo of her thriving peace lily, leaving thousands of gardeners astounded by the plant's lush flowers and grateful for the easy-to-make banana feed.
One user commented: "I use banana water too! My plants love it! I bury the peels around plants outside after using them in a couple of pitchers of water. Best blooms in a long time!"
Another person remarked: "I watered my peace lilies with banana water too...now my plants both look like I just brought them home from the nursery or florist - beautiful!" Gail also recommended mulching your peace lily to further enhance its flower production.
She explained: "My peace Lilly in this pic is planted in bark mulch in the bottom of the pot halfway up then potting soil to the top then a thin layer of bark mulch to hold in moisture.
"I have done this with all my indoor plants and all outdoor potted plants flowers or vegetables. It has saved me so much money on potting soil and time watering in the summer."
