A former Apple employeesays there is only one reason for shoppersto buy one particular iPhone model launching this week. Apple unveilied its new iPhone 17 range earlier this week, displaying an array of fresh features and devices. This includes a brand new design for the Pro series which boasts a dramatic new camera and aluminium unibody construction.
And whilst many users may be drawn to the iPhone Air, which Apple has branded its 'slimmest phone' ever, there may be several reasons to avoid it, according to one social media reviewer. Ex-Apple worker Tyler Morgan, who now creates tech tip videos on social media, told his TikTok followers that there's "no reason" to consider purchasing the iPhone Air.
He said: "I am one of many people that wonder what is the point of the iPhone Air? It's literally just the 17 with one less camera, a Pro chip, beause they have to have a reason to charge you $1,000.

"Worse battery but the same front camera, it's the 17 with one camera, doesn't even get USB3. Oh and as an extra middle finger to you, worse wireless charging, only up to 20 watts wheras the base model gets 25."
He claimed the iPhone Air is only for people who want to show off their new phone. He added: "I don't care who you are, what you say, there is no excuse for you to get an iPhone Air over the regular one."
He also suggested that those willing to shell out £999 should consider the iPhone 17 Pro Max instead. According to Apple's own comparison site, the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which is £200 pricier than the iPhone Air, boasts a larger 6.9" screen and a significantly bigger battery.
Apple claims that while the iPhone Air offers 27 hours of video playback, the iPhone 17 Pro Max can deliver up to 37 hours. Additionally, the iPhone 17 Pro Max features two extra cameras than the Air, including an Ultra Wide 48pm Fusion Telephoto camera, promising superior photo quality.

For those serious about photography and anticipating heavy storage use, the iPhone 17 Pro Max offers up to 2TB of storage, doubling the 1TB available on the Air. However, the new aluminium and large camera design of the iPhone 17 Pro has sparked controversy among Apple enthusiasts.
In contrast, the iPhone Air maintains a sleek and premium look, potentially appealing to many users. Apple has announced that its entire new iPhone range will be available for purchase from Friday, 19 September.
