After making waves at the box office, the latest Kannada hit Su From So has finally arrived on the digital platform. Raj B Shetty's produced horror comedy earned praise for its quirky storyline, strong performances, and a refreshing take on small-town beliefs and superstitions. With minimal pre-release promotions, the makers took a bold approach by relying entirely on word-of-mouth buzz. Now, weeks after its theatrical success, the film is all set to reach a wider audience via OTT. But, there's a twist.
Su from So Tamil remake in works?
The horror-comedy is now streaming on JioHotstar, six weeks after its theatrical debut on July 25, 2025. However, it is only available in Kannada, Telugu, and Malayalam. The absence of a Tamil version has upset a section of viewers, especially since most regional hits typically receive dubbed releases in all major Indian languages on streaming platforms. According to reports by 123Telugu, the Tamil remake rights of Su From So have already been sold to a Kollywood producer, which is believed to be the reason for the missing Tamil version on OTT. A remake is reportedly in early development, and an official announcement is expected soon.
Directed by J.P. Thuminad, who also plays a lead role, Su From So is set in the coastal Karnataka region. It follows a young man believed to be possessed by a spirit, leading the villagers into a series of wild, often hilarious situations. Alongside Thuminad, the cast features Raj B. Shetty, Shaneel Gautham, Sandhya Arakere, Prakash Thuminad, and Mime Ramdas. The film is produced under the Light Buddha Films banner, with Shetty also serving as co-producer.
More about Su From So
The movie was widely appreciated for its grounded storytelling and unique blend of humour and social commentary. What adds to the charm of Su From So is its deeply rooted origin. The story is inspired by real-life events from director J.P. Thuminad’s own village. According to reports, the script went through as many as 26 rewrites before the final version was locked. That dedication shows, both critics and audiences have praised the film for its authenticity and emotional depth.
In addition to this, the film’s music also became a talking point. Composed by Sumedh K, tracks like Danks Anthem and Bhava Theme became chartbusters, while Sandeep Thulasidas handled the background score. Despite minimal marketing, Su From So went on to cross the Rs 100 crore mark at the box office.
