Jeep has revealed a new third-generation Jeep Compass SUV globally. Based on the new STLA Medium platform of the brand, the SUV features a new design, improved dynamics, a new interior, additional features, added safety and looks sharper and bolder than the previous model. The company plans to begin deliveries in Europe first, with the rollout scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025. However, the updated Compass is not expected to arrive in the Indian market shortly.
As mentioned previously, the new Compass is based on the STLA Medium architecture from Stellantis Group, The company says it's designed to support multiple powertrains on a single platform, allowing flexibility for both internal combustion and electric vehicles. In terms of design, the third-gen Compass draws styling inspiration from both the smaller Avenger and the larger Grand Cherokee. It retains the brand’s signature seven-slot grille, now set within a more upright front fascia and features trapezoidal wheel arches, robust plastic cladding, with reinforced bumpers. Radar sensors have been repositioned to minimise the risk of damage in tight conditions or off-road scenarios.
The vehicle’s stance is more rugged overall, highlighted by shortened front and rear overhangs. Higher variants are equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels. At the sides, the SUV features squared-off wheel arches, a pronounced shoulder line, and deep sculpting along the lower section of the doors. The window line tapers slightly toward the rear, complemented by a blacked-out roof and pillars that contrast with the body colour. At the rear, the number plate housing gets a contrasting finish, and the split tail lamp units are connected by a light bar with an illuminated Jeep logo at the centre.
In terms of off-road credentials, the 4x4 versions of the new Compass offer a ground clearance of 201 mm. The approach, breakover, and departure angles are rated at 20, 15, and 26 degrees, respectively. These models also feature hill descent control as standard and can wade through water up to 470 mm deep. The new Jeep Compass measures 4,548mm in length, making it 150mm longer than its predecessor. Its wheelbase has also been extended by 159mm to 2,795mm, and as a result of this, it offers 55mm more legroom.
Moving inside, the SUV gets a new dashboard layout with a prominent 16.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that takes centre stage on the dashboard, serving as the primary interface for infotainment and vehicle controls. Other features include a 10.0-inch digital cluster, multi-zone climate control, a head-up display, Matrix LED headlights, panoramic sunroof, connected car tech, premium sound system, wireless charger, OTA updates, multiple airbags, Level 2 ADAS and much more.
Talking about the powertrain options, the third-generation Jeep Compass is offered with hybrid and electric powertrain options. A 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine paired with a small 0.9kWh battery and 48v mild-hybrid tech, which puts out 145 hp. Another engine is the 1.6-litre four-cylinder plug-in hybrid petrol engine paired with a 125hp electric motor which puts out a combined 195hp and has a 21kWh battery.
The all-electric Jeep Compass will be offered with two battery pack options - a 73kWh and a 97kWh option, the 73kWh pack comes paired with a 213hp front-axle electric motor, offering a claimed range of 500km, while the 97kWh pack is coupled with a 233hp front-axle motor, delivering a range of up to 650km (WLTP cycle). Interestingly, the all-wheel-drive capability is offered only with an electric compass. It gets a 4xe variant, which integrates an additional 179 hp rear electric motor, boosting total power output to 375 hp. For charging, the BEV versions support a 160 kw DC fast charger that enables a 20 to 80 per cent top-up in around 30 minutes. An onboard AC charger offering up to 22 kw is also available.
