JMI Entrance Exam Rescheduled 2025: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has rescheduled its entrance examinations to be held on May 10 and 11, 2025, for students of Jammu and Kashmir. "JMI has decided to postpone the entrance examinations to be held on May 10 and 11 for the students of Jammu and Kashmir," the university said in an official statement on Friday.
An alternative date will be released soon for the students of Jammu and Kashmir.
This decision has been taken keeping in mind the ongoing tension on the India-Pakistan border and the safety of the students. The university has clarified that an alternative date will be announced soon for the students of Jammu and Kashmir, while students from other states of the country will appear for the examination on their scheduled date. These examinations of Jamia are for the academic session 2025-26, which started on 26 April and will run till 31 May. Examinations for several major programs were to be held on May 10 and 11.
The decision comes after a memorandum was submitted to the university administration by the Jammu and Kashmir Students' Association and the All India Students' Association (AISA), demanding postponement of the exam date and provision of examination centres and hostels in Jammu and Kashmir.
The entire development is set against the backdrop of Operation Sindoor, which began on May 7 as a counter-offensive by the Indian Army on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The action was taken in response to the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22 that claimed the lives of 26 people, including 25 tourists.
Thousands of civilians have been moved to safer places in Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora districts due to heavy shelling by the Pakistani Army over the past three days.
