Fastag KYC: If you don't complete your Fastag KYC, your toll transaction may fail, and the Fastag will be blocked. Therefore, get your KYC done promptly; otherwise, you'll face difficulties.
Fastag KYC: Millions of vehicles ply on the country's highways every day, and most pay toll taxes using Fastag. Fastag has made cashless transactions easier, but many people remain careless about its KYC. Fastag KYC, or Know Your Customer, is a crucial process that keeps your Fastag valid and active.
If it's not completed, your Fastag may be blocked, and the barrier at the toll plaza will not open. This means you'll be stopped and forced to make a manual payment. So, if you haven't completed your KYC yet, complete it immediately. This process is very easy and can be completed online in a few minutes.
Why is KYC required for FASTags?
The purpose of KYC is to ensure that the FASTag is issued in the name of the rightful owner and is not being used for any malicious purpose. The Reserve Bank of India and the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) have directed all banks and wallet companies issuing FASTags to update the KYC of every user. A FASTag without KYC is considered limited use, meaning you can only store a certain amount of money on it.
And after this limit is reached, it will automatically be blocked. In many cases, it has been observed that transactions fail despite the user having a balance. This is due to lack of KYC. This leads to long queues at toll plazas and travel delays. Therefore, if you regularly travel on highways, keeping your KYC up-to-date is extremely important.
Easy KYC Process
FASTag KYC can be done both online and offline. To do it online, first go to the website or app of the bank or wallet from which you purchased the Fastag. Select the KYC update option under 'Fastag Services'. Log in and upload your Aadhaar card, PAN card, and vehicle registration number.
After submitting, you'll receive an update message on your mobile within a few hours. If you want to do it offline, you'll need to visit your nearest bank branch or Fastag center and submit the documents. Ensure the mobile number linked to your Fastag is active, as it receives the OTP. Once your KYC is complete, your Fastag will remain active and will never be stuck at toll plazas.
